You can go directly to the bus terminal at Donggang from the bus stop near Mirei Station. I have been to Kaohsiung twice, and in 2025, the ferry

Kaohsiung Access and Basic Information
There is an international airport. If you are not going to other cities, it is better to come directly to Kaohsiung.
Some tourists enter the country at Kaohsiung and leave from Taipei on their way back.
LCCs such as Tiger Air operate flights to and from Kaohsiung. A 24-hour limited sale is held every year on Black Friday. Other than that, sales are held irregularly.
Manned islands accessible from Kaohsiung

Below are domestic flights from Kaohsiung Airport

Above are the primary islands.
Secondary islands can be reached by boats departing from the respective island ports.
Secondary islands are islands without direct public transportation from the mainland.
The Penghu Islands are the main islands in the western area of Taiwan, as opposed to the secondary islands.
Accommodations in Kaohsiung
There are inexpensive dormitory room accommodations near Kaohsiung Station.
When my friend went to the police box in front of the station, he was mistakenly thought to be underage, but was admitted as an adult upon presentation of his passport. Afterwards, the policemen asked us to take a picture in front of the police station.

Stayed one night in a dormitory room just a 1 minute walk from the Mirei Island station. I will not stay there again because it was dirty and the quality of the water supply was too bad.

Socks were left in the shower room. I did not use these amenities. I used the amenities I brought from Japan.

There is a women-only shower room, but a white male was using the women-only shower room and also started listening to music there for a long time. Other white men were talking in the room even though it was past 10pm. White people with bad manners were noticeable. The Asian man in the same room was getting ready quite quietly without making any noise.

The water supply in Kaohsiung may be the worst in Taiwan.
It is hard water, and my skin and hair were in shambles after just one use.
