KUCHINOSHIMADo you remember all the places you have visited in Japan?
Thanks to a major update, the “Municipal Map of all 47 Prefectures” and “English Language Support” have finally been released!
I created this article to share this information with my foreign friends.
It might also be highly recommended for travelers who love Japan or are planning to visit in the future.
📌 What is the “Keikenchi(経県地)” App?
This app allows you to see how much of Japan’s 47 prefectures you have visited based on 6 different experience levels (such as “Lived,” “Stayed,” “Walked,” etc.).
It colors in the map of Japan based on your travels. Your total score becomes your “Keikenchi” (Japan Experience Score).
📌 My Example (Ira)
I already conquered all 47 prefectures during my 9-month journey in 2023.
However, as for the remote islands, there are still some tasks remaining on the municipal level, as shown below.
I hope the developers will release the next update soon because this is not a strictly precise map.
🔥 Points
Covers over 1,700 municipalities nationwide!
Even advanced travelers who feel that just coloring by prefecture is not enough will be satisfied. You can now record your tracks in detail down to the city, town, and village level across all prefectures.

While the app now supports municipalities, Japan has over 400 inhabited islands. For remote islands, an issue still remains. For example, Toshima Village consists of 7 inhabited islands, but the entire village gets colored on the map just by visiting a single one of them.
