Taitung(臺東)Access/Basic Information
Taitung Airport is the closest airport. There are no direct flights from overseas. There are only two domestic flights per day (12,000 one-way).
From the Taitung Railway Station, it is about an hour’s walk to the city center, or about 15 minutes by bus. It takes about 15 minutes by bus. There is a train every two hours.

You can go to two manned islands from Taitung Airport.

There are no flights between the two inhabited islands.
Taito Tomioka Fishing Port will be the port for 2 manned islands. It is far from Taitung Station. It may be better to take a cab rather than a bus, so you don’t have to worry about delays. It will be stressful on the way to the islands. If the wind is not too strong, it might be better to fly. Return trip is by boat. If the plane is cancelled, you will have to go to the port, but the island’s airport and port are far from each other.
First, go to Lanyu Island.
Google map is full of wrong information here too. The first bus time to the airport was wrong. If you leave from Taitung station, there is no bus that can catch the first flight to the airport. Only cabs.

The ferry and flight are about the same price, and I am inclined not to bother experiencing seasickness.

Taitung(臺東) Accommodations
There are some in the port area, but they seem more expensive than other areas. More inexpensive price ranges are in the Taito Station area. I stayed here for consecutive nights, but the floor cleaning was inadequate.
There is photographic evidence. I cleaned by myself. I have ASD (difficulty in cleaning) and ADHD, but I have house dust allergy and am a germophobe, so I clean these places.
The staff told us to take off our slippers at the entrance and get on the floor. However, the next day, none of the guests took off their slippers. Was it because the floor was too dirty?
