Fraudsters obtained NRIC and Singpass details and changed the home addresses of about 60 people online without their knowledge.It may reopen as early as January 14.
A series of incidents occurred in which a third party changed an individual’s address in the government system. The system has been temporarily suspended.
All NRIC holders must report a change of address within 28 days of moving to a new residence, whether in or out of Singapore.
Anyone who reports a false residential address can be fined up to $3,000, jailed for two years, or both. It is also an offence if a user does not affix the new address sticker to the NRIC.
